OUR HEART

We believe Jesus' heart is centered in connection, conversation, & community. At the heart of our church is a desire to connect people to each other and ultimately to Jesus through His Word and through relationships.

Our Hope Groups are a great and simple way to connect with people, learn more about God, and grow in your relationship with Jesus.

JOIN A HOPE GROUP!

Groups meet for 8 weeks in the fall and 8-12 weeks in the spring. There is a sign up process each semester so you can freely jump into a group in an easy, non-threatening way!

THE WHY'S & WHAT'S

  • WHAT ARE HOPE GROUPS?

Small groups of people that meet together weekly for a season (fall or spring) to connect, learn, and grow in faith through Scripture, dialogue, prayer, and fellowship. Our groups are semester based, meaning groups meet for 8 weeks in the Fall, 8-12 Weeks in the Spring, and 4-8 weeks in the Summer for Summer Activity Groups.

  • WHY DO WE DO THEM?

We are designed for relationships. We believe that our faith is developed, nurtured, and deepened in community alongside our brothers and sisters. Therefore, we see small groups not as an “addition” to our spiritual growth but rather as a KEY ESSENTIAL element of the formation of our faith that is meant to be done in community.

  • WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN A HOPE GROUP?

Simple. A safe space to connect, learn, and grow in your faith with others through Scripture, dialogue, prayer, and fellowship. However, this doesn’t automatically happen. It requires some commitment from you. *read below

  • WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME IN A HOPE GROUP?

“Connect, Learn, Grow” only happens when we commit, show up, & we’re open. Our heart is that we are better with you, but ultimately it's not just about you :) It’s about US! We are family. We need each other. When you join a group the expectations are simple, yet key for the health of your group: COMMIT: Honor yourself and your group by being intentional. SHOW UP: Be consistent. Your presence and participation makes the group’s dynamic better. BE OPEN: Be brave enough to allow yourself to be known even when you don’t “feel” connected. We know beautiful things take time and effort to grow. So let's do it together as family!

  • HOW DO I JOIN AND WHEN DO GROUPS MEET?

It’s pretty simple. Five weeks prior to groups starting (Fall Groups begin at the end of September and Spring Groups begin mid February) there will be a sign up period where you’ll be able to choose a group. There are typically groups that meet almost every night of the week at different homes or at LHC.

  • HOW BIG ARE GROUPS?

Small groups allow us to dig a little deeper in a more intimate setting than Sunday morning worship. In order to maintain that level of intimacy and fellowship we keep groups to no more than 16 people.

  • WHY SEMESTER BASED?

We want to be a widely connected church that leads to a deeply committed church. Our small groups are internally healthy but externally focused. Always looking, inviting, and providing an open door for more to be included. There’s sign up process each semester to allow a natural and organic flow of new people to join. This allows variety to exist, current relationships to continue, new leaders to be formed, and a clear time commitment of when groups start and end.

  • IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SEMESTERS?

Yes. FALL semester is 8 weeks with mostly general groups (groups of all different ages) and all study the same curriculum based on our fall sermon series with the purpose of unifying, focusing, and deepening our hearts together as a community. SPRING semester is 8-12 weeks with a variety of group demographics (men, women, marriage, etc.) all studying different curriculum (Bible studies, topic specific, book studies, etc).

  • CAN I BE IN THE SAME GROUP FOR MORE THAN ONE SEMESTER?

Yes. You are more than welcome to sign up to a group with some of the same people from your previous group. However, each group will shift a little bit each semester. We believe we grow when we step out of our comfort zone and meet new people while still allowing space for those consistent connections to continue.

  • CAN MY KIDS ATTEND GROUPS?

It depends fully on the type of group. There are four different types of groups:

-PARENTAL ROTATION: Each parent will take a turn to watch children in the group.

-PAID CHILDCARE: Each parent will pitch in to hire a baby sitter each meeting.

-HOPE KIDS WED. NIGHT ACTIVITIES: Hope Groups for kids meet on Wed. nights from 7:15-8:15pm.

-NO CHILDCARE: Group is for adults only.
